January

We have both been on break and it has been (hmm in one word..) wonderful.  I, Cathy, have laughed so much in the past few days that my mouth literally aches. I could say the same for myself (Caleb). Being able to hang out with friends, seeing old friends that came back from college for the holidays, and going to some parties made the "break" an eventful but overall relaxing break from the college grind.

Here's a few photos and stories from January!

#thuglyfe #skoolzout #swagger ...... #Claires. Yeah.

Cathy surprised me with this hat at one of our many Tim Horton coffee dates over the break. She made it with yarn that we bought on Black Friday. I remember dropping a hint that I wanted one for Christmas, but she had already gotten me a gift. I was so happy to get this hat! It looks great!

Brushing our pearly whites for the pearly gates! (Church. :) )
Can't wait for this to be every morning...

And this brings us up to today.  Eating garbage plates at Jimmy Z's. Not that hardcore. But we like to think we are.  Also can we talk about this phone quality? Man.

Through spending so much time together we have fallen even deeper in love with each other.  Gotten to know how certain situations effect us and what we like to do, even when we're cranky.  We've both gotten into The Lumineers, found that we both LOVE iced mint chocolate coffee, and become fierce at a round of pinochle.

God Bless!

Free Print - Valentine

So with a little more free time on my hands, I was able to make this print for my fellow friends!  You could Valentine's Day or just use this to tell your special someone you love them. Just right click and save, because I don't have a better method as of yet. I would love to know how you use it and what you think!

Enjoy!

DIY Paper Lantern Chandelier

This is a super cheap way to spice up a space! This does take some time, so I'd suggest you put on a show for it doesn't take that much brain power.

What You'll Need:
  • An old book you don't mind cutting up
  • Masking tape
  • Xacto knife
  • Ruler
  • Paper Lantern (sold at the dollar store)
  • Electric candle (optional)
  • Fishing wire
  • Paper Clip
How To:
 1.  Cut out long triangular strips from the book pages.  You will need a LOT of these, so stack the pages while cutting!

Here's what they will look like.

2.  Take a little strip of making tape and apply it to the paper.

3.  Then apply it to the lantern.  Place a few at the bottom with about an inch in between each other

4.  Then as you get up farther, place them adjacent to each other.

5.  Leave a row in between your rows as you make your way up.

 6.  Like I said, it will take a while, but you got it!  Once you are at the top, tie on the fishing wire and the electric candle and the paper clip at the top so it can hang!

Enjoy!

Art... in the Shower?

So I was looking at my shower the other day and was thinking about how insanely boring it was.  Literally 4 white walls in a small space... not enjoyable at all!  So here's what I came up with:

Right??  It's just one of those wall stickers from Walmart or Dollar Tree for, yup you guessed it, $1.  Put it in a place that doesn't get hit with a ton of water, like the far back wall.  I've had it on for a few months and it has stayed on fine!

Otherwise, Cal and I have been having a lazy weekend which has given me time to work on vintage Vogue covers for my fashion friend, Grace. (Check out her blog!)

I love going out as much as the next girl, but sometimes lazy weekends are the best.  Like  watching Shark Tank and eating banana split sundaes with pretzels (best combo ever!)

May your Monday feel just like Sunday... take two ;)

The Style Board HUNT!

So you remember the DIY Style Boards I posted a few days ago?  Well my mom and I decided to spend the day hunting down an outfit or 'look' with a $20 budget!  How did we do this? By making a style board of course!  We used this as a reminder of the look/colors I was going for and wouldn't settle for anything less!  It was so much fun and I'm happy to say I have have a whole new look to add to my wardrobe!

Here it is!

We stopped at about every goodwill in the area shopping those racks like it was nobody's business.  One thing I found out fast is that skirts are hard to shop for!  They are either mean business women or missionary like!  It was pretty rough.  We made a stop at Plato's Closet and things got a little bit better.  Still wasn't what we we're looking for, though.

Also found 2 cute skirts at the goodwill, but one was far too big and the other was far too small.  I was starting to feel like goldy-locks!

Nevertheless, I must say that the hunt is what made it fun!  "You can't hide your big feet, not even in those shoes!!"

We made a spur of the moment stop at Rue 21 and boy was it a life saver! SO cheap too!!

What I ended up with:
Blouse - Rue 21- $8.50
Maxi Skirt - Rue 21 - $3 (!!)
Necklace - Goodwill - $2
Clutch - Goodwill - $2
Shorter skirt - Rue 21 - $3
Cardigan - Rue 21 - $6
(other items I already own)
Comes to a Grand total of:  $24.50 -for TWO outfits!

Making it a bit more cas with a belt and shirt untucked.

After a full day of shopping and a bunch of clothes piled on my bed I can say I am one tired but happy chika.
So what do you think - mission accomplished?

Dinner!

Orange Marsala Pork with Potato Medley and Balsamic Salad

Confession 1: This is not a recipe or how to post.  ...I wanted it to be.
Confession 2: This is not altogether healthy.  ...I wanted it to be.
Confession 3: .... I've decided that I don't like orange with pork.
Confession 4:  Cal and I had the GREATest time making this mess.

So both Cal and I had the day off from work today and decided that we must do something productive today (though watching Skyfall was great and I don't regret it one bit).

So we decided to make a "Healthy Meal Option" blog post.  That uhh... failed.  But we tried, lemme tallya, we tried.  Here I am trying to conform the pork into healthy submission through the method of intimidation.

Kung Fu PORK!

Wanna pet my pork?

We had a rough moment while cutting the onions.

Captured wonderfully by the wonderful Calvin & Hobbes:

*sizzle, sizzle*  The main reason it's not a healthy blog post!

Mmmm... greens, potatoes, and every spice in the cupboard.

Thanks for sharing dinner with us!

DIY Style Boards!

So ever needed some inspiration and wish you could just put all your thoughts and inspirations in one place?  I know I have!  This is my style inspiration board for more dressy occasions - dates, interviews, meeting with clients, etc.  I love this because you can make your own specific board for whatever you want to - and you don't have to clutter up your pinterest!

How to make your own:

-Head on over to picmonkey.com and click on Crate a Collage
-Upload your photos from your computer
-Choose your layout - I went with "Square Deal"
- Then add your inspiration images by simply dragging them over!
-If you want to add a texture, click on the texture you like and drag it over.  To get it on the side bar, drag it to the very edge of the wall and a skinny rectangle will appear. Drop your texture.

If you are not sure exactly what your style is, check out these pinterest boards for some inspiration!

Hope you enjoy this tool as much as I do!
